Prasanth Nair, nicknamed as Collector Bro, is a 2007 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from Kerala cadre.[1][2] He is presently serving as the Managing Director of Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation headquartered in Kochi.[3]

Career[edit]

Prasanth joined the Indian Administrative Service in 2007, serving in the Kerala Cadre. As an IAS officer, he has held numerous positions, such as Sub Collector & Sub Divisional Magistrate,[4] Executive Director of Jalanidhi (KRWSA), Project Director of Kerala State Transport project (KSTP), Additional Excise Commissioner, Private Secretary to Department of Home & Vigilance, District Collector & District Magistrate of Kozhikode District, Deputy Secretary to Government of India[5] and Private Secretary to Union Tourism Minister etc.[6]

In addition to his career as a civil servant, Prashant has made an acting stint in Ajay Devaloka’s 'Who'.[7] He has also directed a short film titled “Daivakanam” which had its World Premiere at 71st Cannes Film Festival.[8][9]

Operation 4N (Namukku Nirathaam Nammude Nirath)[edit]

Project 4N is a drive to involve the public to help identify roads in disarray while the district administration play the role of a facilitator by finding sponsors and well wishers to take up minor repair woks mainly pot holes filling.[10]

Operation Sulaimani[edit]

Operation Sulaimani is a free food programme introduced in the city of Kozhikode, India. Any one can collect a Sulaimani Coupon from one of the authorised distribution centres. Food coupons are distributed at local village and taluk offices and at select hostels at railway station and bus stands. These can be exchanged for a meal in one of the hundred or so partner restaurants.[11]

Savaari Giri Giri[edit]

Savari Giri Giri aim at ensuring safe journey to school children. As per the plan it focus on the safe journey of students from home to school and then back from school to home safely in private buses. The Private bus association also found it an amicable and feasible method as it is equally favourable to the students as well as the bus operators. The phrase Savari Giri Giri is one of the most popular phrase in Kerala uttered by Mohanlal in a super successful movie directed by Ranjith which was released in 2001. It was from the film Ravana Prabhu and the catchy phrase by Mohanlal was and is still celebrated all over Kerala.[12][13]

Kozhipedia[edit]

Kozhipedia is an opportunity to share your local knowledge on a community managed platform. Ranging from information about streets, pathways, stories, legends, folklore, cultural and natural heritage, this initiative aims to explore all the possibilities of documenting Kozhikode as a destination.[14][15]
