Praveen Kenneth (born 15 March 1970) is an Indian entrepreneur. He was the founder, chairman and MD of Law & Kenneth, an advertising agency based in India which was merged with Saatchi & Saatchi after its acquisition by Publicis Groupe in 2014.[1][2] He was the co-owner and chairman of L&K Saatchi & Saatchi till his retirement in late 2017.[3] He was the co-owner and chairman of L&K Saatchi & Saatchi till his retirement in late 2017. In 2002, he started Law & Kenneth along with Andy Law and investor, Anita Roddick of The Body Shop.[6][7]
Early life and education[edit]
Praveen Kenneth was born into a family of educationists. He grew up in Bangalore where he studied at St. Joseph's, High School, Bangalore and Christ College, Bangalore [8]
Career[edit]
Praveen started his career in the advertising industry at Ogilvy & Mather. Subsequently he moved to Mudra Communications.[9]
At age 29 he joined Publicis Groupe and was appointed as the CEO of Publicis India in 1999. He became the youngest ever CEO in the entire Publicis Groupe, took charge, as Publicis India's CEO in May 1999.[10][9][11] He served as the CEO of Publicis Worldwide India in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He joined Publicis Groupe and was appointed as the CEO of Publicis India, at the age of 29.
In 2002, Praveen Kenneth co-founded Law & Kenneth along with Andy Law and Anita Roddick of The Body Shop. Earlier the agency was known as St Luke's Communications.[12] Later in 2004, it was renamed as Law and Kenneth to create one of the first Indian independent agencies with a global footprint.[2] The agency has grown into a full-service agency specializing in branding and marketing, traditional and digital advertising. Some of its clients include Renault, Dabur, TATA AIG, Godrej, ITC Limited and Reliance.[1] In July 2005, Kenneth bought over 26% stake in St. Lukes's India.[13]
In January 2014, He sold Law & Kenneth to Publicis.[14] After acquisition, Law & Kenneth was merged with Saatchi & Saatchi, forming L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, where he served as the chairman and managing director of the combined unit.[2][15] Kenneth announced his retirement from Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi in October 2017.[14][3]
Kenneth is the current chairman of Elohim & Kenneth [16]. The company comprises a group of investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the field of marketing, finance, technology, commerce, and communications, who have come together to promote and create innovations across different areas.
Other activities[edit]
In February 2019, Kenneth launched a platform called Ek Desh, Ek Hum.[17] In 2017, he conceptualized a short film titled, Vaadi-e-Kashmir, launched by Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister of India. The film was reported to be dedicated to Kashmiri people on behalf of the nation by Rajnath Singh, and it was a part of Kent RO's CSR initiative.[18][19]
