Presley Louise Lawson (born September 23, 2000) is an American singer and songwriter.[1] Her melding of pop, rock and roll and country genre musical influences has given her a unique sound. She is a rising artist in Central Florida and has collaborated with Nashville singer and songwriters for her original music.

Presley grew up around music, often travelling on the road with music artists at a young age. She was influenced by Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Conway Twitty, Metallica, KISS and Jeff Bates.

Early life and education[edit]

Presley Louise Mae Lawson was born on September 23, 2000, in Farmington, Missouri. She was the youngest child of William Eli Lawson, II. (b. 1970), a Vice President of Information Technology for a medical kit manufacturing company and Sonya Louise Rolland, (b. 1969) a former model from Orange County, California. This was the second marriage for her father, giving Presley two older half-siblings (Brittany & Brooks). Presley grew up for the first part of her life in Claremore, Oklahoma, where she was introduced to music at a young age. She met one of her first musical influences, Garth Brooks, while he was in his retirement[2] just seven miles down the road in Owasso, Oklahoma.

As a child, Presley often traveled with the family and friends following a local artist, Luke Williams, and RCA recording artist Jeff Bates[3] across the country from Oklahoma to Florida. She was able to see the inside of the music from backstage and after the shows, she sang with them as often as she could.

Presley was no stranger to the media, her mother and father were inducted into the White Castle Hall of Fame, Class of 2005[4], then she and her family made the national news in 2007 when they were visiting the St. Louis Arch and became trapped inside[5][6].

In 2007, Presley and her family moved to Florida where she planted her roots in Citrus County and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Crystal River High School Class of 2019[7].

Career[edit]

In April 2012, Presley gave her first audition for America's Got Talent Season 7[8] in Tampa, Florida. At only 12 years old, she was the only act called back in for a second round audition, but did not make the cut for the show. In 2013 Presley sang the American National Anthem at a spring training ball game for the Houston Astros. She attended a songwriters retreat in northern Georgia with Nashville singers/songwriters directly after graduation and is working on her 2020 album release. Presley is a member with BMI for all of her writing and publishing.

Personal Life[edit]

Presley played flag football and volleyball while at Crystal River High School. While her passion is music, she will be studying psychology and trying to use her music as therapy for others. She has battled anxiety and POTS (Postoral Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).[9] She is an advocate and patient of medical cannabis, that is how she is able to perform and live out her dream of playing music for people.
