Primal Carnage: Evolution is an upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer videogame for PlayStation 4 developed by Circle 5 Studios. Featuring dinosaur versus human PvP combat, it is a newly remastered and expanded version of Primal Carnage: Extinction (2015).
Players take on the role of either dinosaurs or human mercenaries once again, human gameplay being a First Person Shooter experience while dinosaurs control in third person.
Evolution will feature expanded abilities, new gameplay mechanics and customizability ported from the PC version of Primal Carnage: Extinction, which unlike the original PS4 game had continued to receive updates in the intervening years.[1]
Development[edit]
After teasing a return to PlayStation in 2022[2], Primal Carnage: Evolution was officially announced[3] on September 28th 2023. The game was initially planned to release later in 2023, with a closed beta[4]that would be used to fix issues and improve the overall experience. While the beta did launch that October, the full release was delayed until 2024 with testing continuing into the new year.
Primal Carnage (2012) did not credit its voiceover actors, leaving Circle 5 unable to locate them when taking over franchise development in 2015. Instead of continuing to use the old recordings for Evolution, all of the mercenaries were recast with new voice talent. Over 300 new lines were recorded for each character, vastly increasing the amount of dialogue in the game.
