Prince Adalbert (Etzi) of Bavaria (German: Adalbert Friedrich Johannes Maria et omnes sancti Prinz von Bayern) (born 27 December 1944) is a member of the Bavarian Royal House of Wittelsbach.

Early life[edit]

Adalbert was born in Krauchenwies in the Prussian Province of Hohenzollern (present-day Baden-Württemberg) and is the second son of Prince Konstantin of Bavaria and his first wife Princess Maria Adelgunde of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen.

Marriage[edit]

On 9 May 1978 Prince Adalbert married Marion Malkowsky, the daughter of Wilhelm Malkowski and Margot Massengeil. The wedding took place in Munich. However, the couple was divorced five years later on 11 November 1983.

On 21 February 1986 Prince Etzi married for the second time. His bride was Sandra Brigitte Burckhardt, the daughter of Frank Burckhardt. The civil ceremony took place in Munich and the religious wedding followed a week later also in Munich. Initially the union was considered morganatic, but on 3 March 1999 the marriage was decreed to be dynastic in accordance with the Bavarian house laws. The couple have two children together:

  • Princess Bernadette Desirée of Bavaria (b. 1986) she married Carmelo Milici in 2017. They have one daughter:
    • Miss Milici (2018)
  • Prince Hubertus Florian of Bavaria (b. 1989)
