Prince Ukpong Udo Akpabio II, born 19 December 1976, is a Nigerian lawyer, politician and successful business man. He is the current Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Akwa Ibom State.
Early life and career[edit]
Named after his grandfather, Prince Ukpong Udo Akpabio II is the first son of Sir Ukpong Akpabio, the only Nigerian politician to have occupied positions in all three tiers of government; executive, legislative and the judiciary. He is from Ukana, Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area[1] and lost his father while growing up.
Education[edit]
Prince Ukpong Udo Akpabio II did his secondary education at the prestigious Federal Government College Ikot Ekpene,[2] Ikot Ekpene LGA, Akwa Ibom State and graduated in 2000. On completion of the mandatory secondary school programme, his quest for formal knowledge took him to two institutes of higher learning University of Calabar,[3] Cross River State and University of Uyo, Uyo where he studied and obtained degrees in Linguistics[4] and Law[5] respectively and was called to the bar[6] in 2016. Prince Ukpong is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.[7]
Family and personal life[edit]
Prince Ukpong's grandfather, Okuku Udo Akpabio, (who Ukpong is named after) was the Warrant Chief in Ikot Ekpene Province. His uncle, Dr. I. U. Akpabio, was the Minister of Education/Internal Affairs in the then Eastern Nigeria and Justice Nsima Akpabio, (Ukpong's father) was a senator in the Second Nigerian Republic.[1] Prince Ukong Udo Akpabio, a devour Christian is married to Ndifreke Ukpong Akpabio. The marriage is blessed with four beautiful children.
