Prince Zacek
Zacek is a fictional character that appears in the sci-fi/adventure/mecha Mexican comics Karmatrón y los Transformables. He was created by the Eisner winner[1][2] artist and writer Óscar González Loyo[3], his first appearance was in the comic number 1 of Karmatrón y los Transformables with a publishing date of February 17, 1986. He appeared in comics published weekly from 1986 to 1991 (the period of his top popularity due to the boom of Mecha animes in Mexico),[4] from 1993 to 1996[5] and, in a very irregular frequency, from 2002 to 2024.
Zacek belongs to the fictional Zuyua species and is the son of Emperor Canilek. His species and society is characteristically peaceful even though they are always in conflict with the violent Metnalitas,[6] a warrior and belligerent people. Zacek belongs to the archetypical young character that by chance gains fantastical powers. Zacek is able to transform into a giant robot Karmatrón thanks to a belt named Kalpé-Om and the utterance of the Kalpé Om Praying. He is then a seventeen-year-old adolescent that transforms into a superpowerful being (in a similar way that other teenage characters do in popular culture: as Prince Adam transforms into He-Man or Billy Watson transforms into Captain Marvel).
Fictional life and powers
He was born in the city of Atlán on the Zuyua planet. Since childhood he is inseparable from his pet Jiva. He is an expert in cybernetics and created the robots named Transformables.[7] Zacek cannot be in the robot-Karmatrón form for too long on the planet Metnal because of the "negativity" that pervades in such place.[8]
According to the magician Katnatek, Zacek was chosen to be Karmatrón in order to stop the expansionist Empire of Asura and to unite all the planets under the flame of love.[9] Zacek has Lis-Ek as a love-interest (appearing for the first time in issue number 4 of the series)[10] who will be his adventure companion until they marry. At the age of 17 he gained the ability of transforming into the Karmatrón robot, but his power to do so is limited; when his belt shines it indicates that his power is about to end and then he must spiritually return to a cavern to recharge the energy.[11] In order to recharge, once in the cavern, Zacek in his astral form must in turn enter a state of meditation so he can be flooded by the Kundalini energy.[12]
