Life[edit]

Christine Wilhelmine was born as the daughter of John William III, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach and his wife Magdalena Sibylla of Saxe-Weissenfels. On November 26, 1734, she married Prince Charles of Nassau-Usingen. The marriage resulted in four children:[1]

Through her son Charles William, she is a direct ancestor of Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, Empress Maria Feodorovna and Queen Louise

She had a dispute with her brother Wilhelm Heinrich, Duke of Saxe-Eisenach over the payment of her mother's marriage benefits from 1730 to 1737.[2]

Christine Wilhelmine lived in Biebrich Castle, whose construction was started at the beginning of the 18th century by George August, Count of Nassau-Idstein and was completed as a residential palace after his death by Christine's eldest son Karl. The castle had magnificent furnishings.[3]
