Printful Printful Inc. is a global print-on-demand and drop shipping company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, that fulfills and ships over 230 different products for ecommerce stores[1]. [2] [3]

Printful is fully integrated with some of the most popular ecommerce platforms and online marketplaces. Their products are made to order so, when a customer places an order, it is automatically sent to Printful to be fulfilled and shipped.[4] Printful is one of the largest custom on-demand printing and warehousing companies in the world and currently employs over 800 people across five fulfillment centers in California, North Carolina, Latvia, and Mexico. [5] [6] Since 2013, Printful has delivered 17.3 million items and generated $77.4 million in 2018.[7]

HISTORY:

Printful Inc. was founded in 2013 by Lauris Liberts, Agris Tamanis, and Davis Siksnans. Printful emerged from a business that had already been launched by Lauris Liberts called StartupVitamins, selling posters, clothing, and other items with motivational quotes for entrepreneurs. While Liberts was physically printing these items from his Los Angeles home, Siksnans was in Latvia working on marketing and software design.[8][9] [10] [11]

As the business grew, they realized they were unable to find a reliable printing service, and the idea of Printful was born. Printful's name is a combination of the two essential parts of the company's service—print products and fulfillment.[12] [13] Right before the official launch in 2013, Printful moved out of Liberts home and into its 2,000 sq. ft. facilities in Burbank, California with seven different product printers.[14] On July 16, 2013, a small, 6-person team across Latvia and the USA launched Printful. In the beginning, Printful offered 3 types of products: posters, canvas and t-shirts. The news about the launch made it to TechCrunch and other media.[15] [16] By November 2013, Printful introduced their first automatic order fulfillment for Shopify stores. Shortly after, in May 2014, online sellers made the first $1M in combined sales[17]. June 2015 reached a milestone for Printful, as they grew out of their office in Burbank and moved to a five times bigger HQ in Chatsworth, California, that was 35,000 sq. ft. of fulfillment space. The same year, Davis Siksnans, one of the co-founders, was named CEO of Printful. [18][19]

In 2016, Printful reached their 100,000 registered users and merchants have already made over 30 million dollars in combined sales.[20] In October 2016, Printful opened its second location in Charlotte, North Carolina and invested $1.5M in printing equipment [21]. In 2017, Printful opened a Europe fulfillment center in Riga, Latvia, becoming one of the only print-on-demand drop shipping companies with in-house fulfillment centers both in North America and Europe, giving its customers easier access to hundreds of millions of new buyers.[22] [23] [24]

2018 Printful opened a new fulfillment center in Tijuana, Mexico that specializes in cut & sew products and activewear.[25] On August 8, 2019 Printful opened their new 53,000 square foot facility, and added 100 jobs in Charlotte, North Carolina.[26] [27] In 2019, Printful reached a 116 million US dollar revenue. The company opened an office in Spain and expanded their fulfillment centers in the US and Latvia. Printful has now grown to a team of more than 800 people.[28] [29]
