Prisca Singamo (born 2 January 1976) is a Malawian former middle-distance runner. Her name has sometimes been reported as Singano.[1][2]
Singamo competed in the women's 800 metres at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. She finished seventh in heat three and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.[3]
Singamo was first noticed by American media for showing up to her Olympic 800 m heat wearing blue tennis shorts.[1] She was also noted by French and American media for running her Olympic 800 m race barefoot.[2] It was observed that by the time she had finished in 2:20.84 minutes, the next heat of runners was already preparing to start.[4][5][6] Nonetheless, she was "roundly cheered" by the Barcelona crowd as she finished.[1] Her time was a personal best, and she raised her arms at the end of the race in celebration.[7][4]
