Priscila Guedes
Priscila Guedes (born September 8, 1981) is a Brazilian film director, scriptwriter, and Extended Reality (XR) creator recognized for her work in the film industry and innovation, particularly in new media technologies.[1] [2] She is known for her work in movies like Mr. Stein Goes Online (2017), Skokan (2017), O_CE_AN (2021)[1] [2]
Early Life and education
Guedes was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Initially, she attended the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro from 2004 to 2008, where she studied visual and performing arts. Later, she went to École Supérieure de Cinema et Audiovisuel AIS Marseille and earned a Master's degree in virtual reality interactive narrative in 2017. During this time, she focused on creating stories for virtual reality. She also trained at Dixit Paris to become a virtual, augmented, and mixed-reality concept designer.[3]
Career
Guedes started her cinematic journey by studying film and audiovisuals at Les Ateliers de l'Image et du Son in Marseille, France. [3] She sharpened her expertise in high-tech cinematography and innovative media, later making notable contributions as a director of photography in European films like Skokan (2017) and Mr. Stein Goes Online (2017). Notably, her work on the latter earned her a nomination for the prestigious Le Césars & Techniques Awards in 2018.[3]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Guedes displayed her versatility by transitioning to scriptwriting and film directing.[3] Her short film O_CE_AN garnered international acclaim and received nine esteemed awards, increasing her reputation as an exceptional film director. [3]
Beyond filmmaking, Guedes ventured into sports innovation with the creation of Big Wave VR[4], a virtual reality-based mind and body training tool. Her work earned her recognition at venture.ch, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Award, and the HYPE Sports Innovations Award in 2022. [4]
