The gallery was founded in 2006 by Irving and Miriam van Dijk, who had been art and design collectors for several years prior. Priveekollektie specializes in contemporary art, digital art, limited-edition, collectible and conceptual design. Currently, the gallery represents 8 international artists and designers and several guest artists and designers. In 2016, it opened a new gallery space in Mayfair, London besides the Dutch gallery space in Heusden.

A heritage building and a home for contemporary art & design[edit]

The gallery is located in Pelsestraat 13 and Kerkstaat 1, in a house built in the 19th century. The owners live between the two buildings.

The house was originally a farm, with the left part of the monument serving as horsestables, and with a barn upstairs. The rest was a living house. The monument is a five-house complex (De Eikeboom, De Drie Koningen and De Moriaan).

The house was sold to a doctor in 1950. 1950-1969 Dr. Vreeburg lived in the complex for 19 years

Between 1969 and 1991, the building became home to the Keramisch Werkcentrum, until it moved to Den Bosch and became the European Ceramic Centre. During this time, the small rooms in the left part of the building were used as a studio for each individual ceramist. They went to the Keramisch Werkcentrum to train, but also establish contacts in the profession. The Centre also provided services for non-ceramists.

Since 2006, the former stables of the building are used as an exhibition space and in ‘de Moriaan’ functions as an office for the gallery.
