Priveekollektie Contemporary Art and Design

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design is a Dutch gallery in Heusden aan de Maas, established in 2006. Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design represents internationally recognized artists and designers, and provides young and upcoming talents with a platform for showing their collectible design and art pieces. Key in the collection is the combination of contemporary art and collectible design and the crossing of the fine line between both disciplines. The name Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design (Priveekollektie can be translated as Private collection) is an indication for the starting point of the gallery, both as a policy as well as provenance.

The gallery partakes in several international art and design fairs a year. In 2017 these fairs were PAD Paris.[1], Art New York[2], Design Miami/Basel[3], PAD London[4], The Salon Art + Design New York[5] and Art Miami[6]. In 2018 the gallery has exhibited at artgenève/PAD Geneva[7] and NOMAD St. Moritz[8].

Historic buildings

The gallery and office of Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design are based in the historic town of Heusden aan de Maas. The buildings are listed as national monuments. Originally, the buildings contained 5 individual houses, dating from the 19th Century. The premises are named individually De Moriaen (Pelsestraat 13), De Drie Koningen (Pelsestraat 15) and De Eikeboom (Kerkstraatje 1).

De Moriaen The address Pelsestraat 13 is currently in use by Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design as their gallery space for exhibitions. The building originally served as a coach house in the 19th Century[20]. The house is named De Moriaen[21] and has a very old Mulberry tree in the back garden, which dates from the French revolution[22]

De Drie Koningen (The Three Kings) The middle premises[23], Pelsestraat 15, are named after the three biblical wise men. It contains a house[24] under two parallel roofs, with empire facades at the front and back, each with a central entrance decorated by Ionian pilasters with a cornice including a toothed frame.

De Eikeboom (The Oak Tree) The third building, Kerkstraatje 1, is called De Eikeboom and is located right next to Heusden's Town Hall. The Town Hall was heavily bombarded[25] in 1944 during WO II, but the building at Kerkstraat 1 remained intact. It is currently serving as office for Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design.
