Priyankar Patra (born 19th April, 1995) is an Indian producer based out of Kolkata, India. He primarily works with Aditya Vikram Sengupta's film production company, For Films.[1]

Early Life

Priyankar was born on 19th April, 1995 in Kolkata, India. He first started making short films when he was still a student at Garden High School, Kolkata. Later, he studied Journalism and Mass Communication at University of Calcutta before doing his masters from the US in Screenwriting and Playwriting at Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois. [2] As a student of Northwestern, he was also selected for the prestigious Television Academy fellowship program where he worked with the Wolper Organization in Burbank. [3]

Career

During his college days in 2014, Priyankar acted in a television commercial for Sony Alpha's camera. The commercial was directed by the famed Indian director, Q.[4] During his final year at Northwestern University, Priyankar made Stuck (2018), a black and white short film, with the production grant he received from the university. Priyankar has also written a short play, One Ticket To America, that was presented at the 2018 New World Play Festival in Chicago. [5][6][7]

In 2018, he returned to Kolkata and started to collaborate with Aditya Vikram Sengupta. According to his interview with FRED FM Film Radio, Priyankar first joined the team of Once Upon A Time In Calcutta, Aditya's third film, as an Assistant Director before becoming the post-producer of the film, and eventually a producer of the company, For Films.[8]

Priyankar is currently developing Birthmark, Aditya's upcoming project, along with producers from Luxembourg, Denmark, France and Norway.[9]
