Introduction[edit]
Programming Hero is an online learning platform where learning is made fun and interactive. They have an Android app as well as the iOS version.
History[edit]
They started with one mission: Make Learning Fun. Since then, all six and a half caffeine-sucking night owls are having fun.
The initial team had Jhankar Mahbub, Shuvojit Kar, Rasel Ahmed, Shajedul Karim, Sufi Ahmed Hamim, Mujahidul Islam and Karina Islam (advisor). They were frequently supported by their awesome friends Dennis Bohr, Joel Karzmuruski, Irina Dimitrov, Majedul Islam, Shahan Chowdhury, Tahsin Haider, and lot more amazing friends.
Their android app was live on a huge platform, Google Play Store on 27th November 2018. After just 2.5 months, they hit 43k+ downloads.
29th June 2019 was the day they hit their biggest success, the 100k downloads milestone. On 27th August 2019, they achieved something huge — 4.9 ratings on the Play Store, which was, maybe a world-record among their competitors. Currently, they have 4.8 ratings on the Play Store, still higher than their competitors.
Their iOS version was live on the App Store on March 17, 2020. Their huge leap was when they started experimenting with the Web course. They started with the Bengali Web Development course. They hit their biggest milestone so far, the 500k+ downloads on July 29th, 2020.
Failures[edit]
They failed more than they succeeded in this whole journey. They mention on their Facebook page: "Failing was fun. We failed to convince the investors, we failed to market our app to talented people, and once we got kicked in our butt trying to promote our app by cold calling in a house. However, we learned something new every time we failed. Now looking back, we miss the old days. We always enjoyed every moment of working for a great mission, to make learning fun. It's so fascinating. We have a long way to go."
Features[edit]
Web Development Course[edit]
They have got the best web development course for beginners. Anybody can learn and practice Web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript in the app itself.
App Development Course[edit]
They updated the app with everyone's most-wanted app development course. Anybody can learn Java, Kotlin, & Android and develop their own Tinder app.
Offline Code Playground[edit]
In their web development (HTML, CSS, & JavaScript) code playground, you can build any project using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Vue.js), and Bootstrap. After finishing, you'll be able to publish the app using GitHub and share your live site with anyone. They’ve got a code playground to practice Python & Java too so that learners can keep practicing and keep improving.
Premium Features[edit]
75% of their app content is available for free. They mention on their website: "We didn't want to restrict learning. Our goal from the very beginning was to make learning fun for everyone and everyone means everyone...money shouldn't block any learning. And 75% of the contents are enough for anyone to learn and get hired as a junior web developer. The rest 25% requires some payment. You either have to feed us a meal or a breakfast for our Android version and subscribe monthly or yearly in our iOS version."
Their most attractive premium service is the Complete Web Development Course by Jhankar Mahbub” which is a pre-recorded video course only available in Bengali.
People from Bangladesh and India regions can learn complete web development in just 4 months. For special students who score more than 90% in these 4 months, they allow a special 1-month training process to rock their next interview process and they themselves send out the students resumes to potential, big organizations in Bangladesh (they have signed an MoU with them) to either give feedback on their resumes or hire them if they find the right match.
It’s one of the most popular paid Web Development courses in Bangladesh and India. They now have video the Web Development course in both their app (Android and iOS)
