Proudhadeveraya Institute of Technology, is a private co-educational engineering and management college situated at Hosapete, in Ballari district, India. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and recognised by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE). Hosapete is near Hampi, the erstwhile capital of Vijayanagar Empire and a world heritage site. The College is managed by Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha of Ballari, an education society serving for over 100 years the needs of education in and around Ballari district of Karnataka.

Proudhadeveraya Institute of Technology, (PDIT) established in 1997, offers 5 undergraduate programs, 2 Post-graduate programs and 3 PhD programs. PDIT offers Bachelor of Engineering Courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering. Admission to this college is made completely through Common Entrance Test (CET) & PGCET conducted by Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and COMEDK. Selection is based on the Merit and Reservation in accordance with the policies of the Government of Karnataka. CET will be generally conducted during the month of April/May of every year.

Proudhadeveraya Institute of Technology was established in 1997 by Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Ballari. The institution is named after Proudhadevaraya (r. 1425–1446 CE) who was an emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Governing Council[edit]

The Governing Council of the college consists of 11 members. The body comprises five members from the V.V.Sangha, one AICTE nominee, one Government of Karnataka nominee, one Department of Technical Education nominee, one university nominee, and one Member Secretary, the Principal. The present Chairman of the College Governing Council is Janekunte Basavaraj and the members are JS Sateesh and Ekambresh. The Principal of PDIT is Dr SM Shashidhar.

Proctorial system[edit]

Faculty members are appointed as proctors for the students of their departments to monitor their attendance, performance in tests, extracurricular activities and personality development. Each proctor supervises 10 students per semester.

Infrastructure

PDIT is situated in a sprawling 20 acres of land quite adjacent to Tungabhadra Dam. The campus is homed in a spacious building with calm, decent and serene environment and is congenial for the pursuit of knowledge. The Institution has well furnished and spacious lecture halls,laboratories, workshops, most modernized and sophisticated computer labs, library and administrative blocks.

Cultural and Technical Festivals[edit]

Ethnic day

Students dress up in their traditional clothes, highlighting the cultural importance of Karnataka and India.

Freshers' day

The freshers are welcomed by the seniors of various college departments in an extravagant and cheerful way. The students organise various cultural, extra-curricular and technical activities to greet and encourage the new freshers.

Parikrama

The college organises the Parikrama, annual day of the College during March-April every year.

Ignitia

The Mechanical department of PDIT organizes Ignitia a technocultural Fest every year.

Wonders

The Computer Science & Engineering department of PDIT organizes 'Wonders' technocultural Fest every year.

Training and Placement Cell[edit]

The Training and Placement Cell helps students to find jobs in Indian and multinational companies. The placement cell also organises multiple-campus placement drives for government and private colleges located in rural places of Karnataka.

Among the companies that have recruited from the college are ABB, Accenture, Aricent, Biocon, Cisco, Cognizant Technologies, Essar, Indian Air force, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Infosys, Snapdeal, Larsen & Toubro and Wipro.
