Pruthi

Pruthi is an Indian Hindu and Sikh clan of the Arora or Khatri community of Punjab.[1]

In the census of 1951, Aroras that were settled in Punjab returned their caste names as Khatri, Arora Khatris, Arore, Rore etc. Some of the Aroras simply returned their caste names with Arora sub-caste names such as Ahuja, Batra, Bhagat, Bhatia, Chawla, Chabbra, Juneja, Khurana, Narula, Pruthi, Sethi, Thakral, Wadhwa etc.[2]

  • Hem Singh Pruthi (23 February 1897 – 23 December 1969) was an Indian entomologist who served as Imperial Entomologist, being the first native Indian in that position.
  • Flaka Pruthi (born 30 June 1999) is a Kosovan swimmer
