Publisher Rocket, previously known as KDP Rocket, is a book marketing software application[1] for authors on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Authors utilize this software in the research and uploading stage of their e-books, print books, and audiobooks. [2] Described as a targeting tool, Publisher Rocket focuses on Amazon keywords, categories, and ads.[3]
History[edit]
Dave Chesson created Publisher Rocket after founding the Kindlepreneur website. The software development was completed through a partnership with Bhanuka Harischandra and Surge.Global for code creation. Publisher Rocket is used for the marketing and business side of book writing[4], including Amazon SEO[5] and determining keyword search volume or earnings.[6]
Usage[edit]
Publisher Rocket is utilized in the book industry both by independent authors and larger publishing houses to analyze the book market.[7] The four sections of Publisher Rocket tools are the keyword search, competition analyzer, category search, and AMS (Amazon Marketing Services) keyword search. [8] Keyword search shows which keywords in metadata help readers find books, affecting traffic to a book's sales page. [9] The competition analyzer identifies competitors[10] and determines the revenue of other books on Amazon. Category search shows how competitive a category may be and the difficulty to reach bestseller status in that category. AMS keyword search lists keywords for targeting readers in Amazon Advertising.[8]
Criticism[edit]
Criticisms of Publisher Rocket include that it focuses upon the monetary over the artistic value of book publishing, as it shows which keywords users are currently searching for on Amazon from a volume perspective[11]
