Puffy (also known as Puffy Mattress) is a U.S.-based e-commerce company that specializes in luxury mattresses, pillows and other bedroom accessories. They sell memory foam mattresses and hybrid mattresses with a combined coil and foam construction. Puffy is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada.
History
Puffy was founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Arthur Andreasyan and launched in the United States on March 20, 2017. In an interview with Entrepreneur, Andreasyan describes being inspired to create Puffy by the cloud-filled view on a flight to LA.[1]
The company also launched its Canadian e-commerce store on March 17, 2020. In an interview with Tech Company News, Andreasyan said expansion to Canada was a natural next step after establishing its US following.[2]
All Puffy memory foam mattresses are manufactured in their region of operation: mattresses sold in the United States and Canada are made in the United States and Canada, respectively.
Products
Puffy's product offering includes all-foam and hybrid mattresses, adjustable and traditional bases and bed frames, bedding, and bedroom accessories.
The company launched its first mattress, the Puffy Mattress, in 2017, which is designed and constructed with memory foam, and is the most budget-friendly of their range. In 2020, the Puffy Lux Hybrid Mattress and the Puffy Royal Hybrid Mattress were launched, which incorporate individually pocketed coils as well as memory foam.
In 2022, the Puffy Lux Hybrid was recommended by Consumer Reports for its versatile construction suitable for different types of sleepers. It continues to be their most popular mattress to date according to their website. All their mattresses are endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association.
Puffy has received recognition from outlets such as Forbes, Good Housekeeping, and HGTV. Newsweek & Statista recognized Puffy as one of the Best Online Shops 2023.
In the Media
Puffy was featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show’s annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways.[3] CBS’ The Talk also featured the Puffy Lux Mattress on January 4, 2019.[4] Speaking to Forbes, Andreasyan said Puffy’s focus on individual customer satisfaction played a big role in its success.[5]
Donations
In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, the company donated mattresses and pillows to Laura’s House, a domestic violence shelter in Orange County, California.[6]
Through their mattress donation program Puffy has worked with charities and children’s shelters across the United States, including the Penny Lane Center, the Mission of Hope, and the Nashville Rescue Mission. It has donated over 10,000 mattresses to date.
Retail Presence
In 2021, Puffy began selling their mattresses in US retailers and showrooms. The company has so far expanded to three brick and mortar stores in the United States: SleePare, Our Sleep Guide, and Mister Sandman.
