Puneet Gupta
Puneet Gupta (born 1974) is a Scottish-Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After his family moved to Greenock in 1981, he attended Kelvinside Academy and went on to take a Degree in Pharmacy and an MBA, both at the University of Strathclyde. Gupta is married to Poonam Gupta with two daughters.[1]
Charitable work[edit]
Gupta's philanthropic and charitable activity is primarily focused on underprivileged children and animal conservation. Gupta is an ongoing supporter of conservation charity, Elephant Family, a part of The British Asian Trust.[2] Gupta also took part in a rickshaw races in 2015 and 2017, raising funds for the charity, founded by the conservationist and Duchess of Cornwall's brother, the late Mark Shand to conserve the Asian elephants.[3][4][5][6] In 2021, Gupta and his wife led an India Covid Appeal providing and delivering thousands of oxygen concentrators throughout India during the country’s deadly second Covid wave.[7][8]
Public life[edit]
Puneet is a member of Scottish Chambers of Commerce's Scottish Business Advisory Group (SBAG)[9] and a member of Scottish Business UK's (SBUK) Advisory Council.[10] Gupta is a co-founder and co-chair of Scottish Conservatives Friends of BAME (SCBAME), a parent association working with the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party to support the BAME communities in Scotland.
