Pure Algae Denmark (also just known as Pure Algae) is a Danish technology company founded in 2018 and based in Grenaa, Denmark. The company develops modular land-based systems for the cultivation of seaweed, designed for stand-alone operations or integration with RAS (aquaculture and recirculating aquaculture systems). Pure Algae’s technology has been noted for converting nutrients and CO₂ from aquaculture effluents into seaweed biomass, contributing to emission recapture, nutrient recycling and localized production. The company has been highlighted in the European Union Innovation and Maritime programs for its role in supporting circular bioeconomy initiatives and addressing Europe’s reliance on imported seaweed.[1]
