Wei Puyang (Thai: เว ปูหยัง; born 18 August 1998) is a Thai male judoka who competes mainly in the –90 kg category. Representing Thailand in international competitions, he has won a bronze medal at the 2018 Hong Kong Asian Open and both a gold and a bronze medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines. He also competed at the Judo Grand Slam Tokyo in 2022 and at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, held in 2023.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life

Wei’s mother is from Satun Province in southern Thailand. He is 184 centimetre tall and is nicknamed "Tiger(เสือ)".[5][3]

Career

At the 2018 Hong Kong Asian Open, Wei won a bronze medal in the –100 kg category.[2] In 2019, he represented Thailand at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, where he won a gold medal and a bronze medal.[4] He later competed at the Judo Grand Slam Tokyo in 2022 in the –90 kg category,[1] and at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where he finished ninth in the men’s –90 kg event and seventh in the mixed team competition.[3]
