Steamed dumplings from Qing Xiang Yuan

Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings is a dumpling cooking restaurant which established in Chinatown, Chicago on December 9, 2015. It specializes in handmade soup dumplings in a variety of styles and fillings.

History[edit]

Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings grew out of a stall in Richland Center food court in Chicago Chinatown on December 9, 2015[1], but it quickly developed into a soup-filled dumpling restaurant which has many flavors with spices and aromatics[2]. Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings serves boiled, pan-fried and steamed dumplings with different fillings like leek, egg, and shrimp; lamb with coriander; pork and dill; chicken and mushrooms; and beef and celery, all meant to be slathered with a combination of soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar[3].

Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings hatched a new brand CHA, which sells tea and tea wares in 2018. All tableware from Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings is hand-crafted in Jing De Zhen, the porcelain capital of China with more than 2000 porcelain-making history. Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings plans to open a casual spin-off restaurant called JIAO in Chicago downtown in May 2019 with a scaled-down and rotating menu[4].

Qing Xiang Yuan

As a Chinese cultural restaurant, Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings uses two colors to form its logo. The white color represents Chinese dumplings, and green shows the appreciation to nature. The Chinese character ”青香苑” reshapes and forms into a porcelain bowl with a floating cloud above, which looks like a fragrant aroma of food. The design style of the logo is quaint and graceful, simple and natural.
