Qontigo is a subsidiary of the Deutsche Börse Group, a global exchange organization. The company was created in 2019 as a result of the acquisition of Axioma Inc. by the Deutsche Börse Group, together with the merger of Deutsche Börse Group's STOXX and DAX businesses..[1].

Headquartered in Eschborn, Germany, Qontigo provides index, analytics and risk solutions to financial institutions and corporations. Qontigo operates in over 10 countries and has offices in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific.[2]

History[edit]

Qontigo was formed in 2019 as a result of the acquisition of Axioma Inc. by the Deutsche Börse Group, combined with Deutsche Börse Group's existing STOXX and DAX businesses.[3] Axioma was founded in 1998 by Sebastian Ceria, now Chief Executive Officer of Qontigo.

As part of the transaction, Deutsche Börse Group entered into a strategic partnership with General Atlantic.[4]

Products and Services[edit]

Qontigo's indices include STOXX Europe 600, EURO STOXX 50 and DAX, which are recognized as benchmarks for investment performance in Europe.

The Axioma platform provides portfolio risk analytics, factor models, and risk reporting, along with tools for portfolio optimization and scenario analysis.

ESG & Sustainability[edit]

In recognition of the growing importance of sustainability in investment, Qontigo has launched a sustainable index solutions that are aligned with the clients' goals and values such as ESG indices with either "exclude" or "enhance" strategies[5], and climate indices with low carbon, climate change, Paris-Aligned Benchmark, Climate Transition Benchmark and WTW Climate Transition categories[6]

Qontigo has been recognized for its index and analytics expertise. In 2021, the company won the Structured Retail Products Europe Awards for Index of the Year (EURO iSTOXX Ambition Climate PAB Index)[7], the ETF Express European Awards for Best Index Provider for ESG ETFs[8], and the WatersTechnology Buy-Side Technology Awards for Best Buy-Side Risk Management Product (Axioma Risk)[9]. In 2022, the company won the Structured Retail Products Awards for Index of the Year (EURO iSTOXX Ocean Care 40)[10], WatersTechnology Asia Awards for Best Risk Management Solution (Axioma Risk)[11], and Risk.net Markets Technology Awards for Buy-Side Market Risk Management Product of the Year (Axioma Risk)[12]
