Quanta is a well renowned national level techno management symposium held every year by the Society of Materials Science Engineers (SMSE) of [1] which entices more than 1000 participants from all over India. The Society of Materials Science Engineers (SMSE) is a student body emphasizing on the various departmental activities of Materials Science and Engineering,an interdisciplinary undergraduate program under the Department of Mechanical Engineering of [2].The society established in 2009,strives to effectuate the vision of encouraging technical interaction among academic and industry professionals by organising inter and intra college symposiums and seminars. Quanta is a platform for geeks and techno-nerds to flaunt their skills and be exposed to contemporary technologies providing them the ultimate opportunity to be acquainted with the developments in the field of Materials Science.This makes Quanta,"the must go" event to be marked on all your calendars.With an accomplishment of a plethora of 10+ events and workshops,Quanta endows all the participants with a collosal learning experience.
Quanta 10: The three day symposium took place between April 5 to 7 in association with Madras Metallurgical Society Students' chapter.The signature events of Quanta are as follows: 1.Paper presentation provides the conventional podium to put forth the unconventional ideas. 2.Perfect Pitch is an event which helps one to unleash the entrepreneur in them. 3.Industrial Design Problem is an event which is all about finding the way out of technical hurdles in today's industrial scenario. 4.Hephaestus' Oracle is an event to evoke the knowledge of materials and gear up for the ultimate quizzing action. Besides these four signature events there are 7+ other technical,non-technical and online events which keep varying over the years. The inaugural edition of Quanta received overwhelming response from international workshop conducted by Sterling group,UK in association with Centre for International Affairs,Anna University, Chennai.
Quanta 11: The symposium took place between March 17 to 19 in association with Madras Metallurgical Society Students' Chapter.The international workshop on "Recent trends in Nano Engineering" organised via video conferencing from MIT Boston with eminent speakers from IGCAR Kalpakkam and IIT Madras bagged a tremendous response from students all over India.
Quanta 12: The three day extravaganza happened between March 20 to 22 in association with Madras Metallurgical Society Students' Chapter.One day workshop on "Automotive Materials" including lectures by the speakers from Ashok Leyland,DRDO,Ford India Pvt Ltd and Wheels India Pvt Ltd was conducted in a grand manner.
Quanta 13: This edition of Quanta took place between April 11 to 13 in association with Madras Metallurgical Society Students' Chapter.The international workshop on "Alternative Energy in the perspective of Nanotechnology" was conducted in a successful manner.
Quanta 14: It was conducted between March 24 to 27 in association with Madras Metallurgical Society Students' Chapter.One day workshop on "Aerospace and Aircraft Materials" was conducted.
Quanta 15: It was conducted from March 11 to 14.A half day workshop on "Material Modeling and Simulation" and a full day workshop on "Materials in Defense Research" were conducted.
Quanta 16: This edition of Quanta took place between March 18 to 20.Workshops on "Advanced Automotive Materials" and "Non Destructive testing and evaluation" took place.
Quanta 17: It took place between March 13 to 15.Workshop on "Simulation of Materials and Manufacturing Processes" was conducted.
Quanta 18: It was conducted between March 8 to 10.Technical workshops on "Automotive Materials" by DAIMLER India Commercial Vehicles and Bharat Benz and "Additive Manufacturing" by AUFRG Institute for CAD/CAM were conducted.
