Qudama Rafiq (ခုဒါမာ ရော်ဖိက်; born 21 May 1994) is a Rohingya graphic designer, web developer, and photographer based in India.[1] He is recognised as one of the first professional graphic designers from the Rohingya community and is the founder of the design agency CreativeGLE.
Early life
Rafiq was born in Buthidaung, Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma). In 2011, he fled to India due to the persecution of the Rohingya people and registered as a refugee with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Career
Rafiq began his career in 2014 as a freelance designer, specialising in branding, visual identity, and UI/UX design. In 2017, he founded CreativeGLE, a design studio catering to the education, nonprofit, and social development sectors.
He is noted for combining modern minimalism with cultural symbolism and for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools into his design workflows. His portfolio includes the visual identities for several diaspora organisations, including the Rohingya Youth Association (RYA) and the Mayyu Youth Leadership Institute.[2]
In addition to design, Rafiq is a photographer whose work documents the conditions of refugees; his images have been distributed via agencies such as Alamy and Shutterstock.
Community work
Rafiq actively mentors youth from displaced communities, advocating for digital literacy and creative skill-building as tools for empowerment. He has been publicly acknowledged by community initiatives such as Rohingya Voice for his pro bono design support.[3]
