Quidco

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Quidco is an online cashback and money saving site based in the UK. Started in 2005, it is a subsidiary of media company, Maple Syrup Media.[1] It has two sister cashback sites, Shoop.fr in France and Shoop.dr in Germany, both of which also fall under Maple Syrup Media.[2]

Quidco’s revenue comes from a commission made from partnered retailers, and the use of advertising space.[3] When a member makes a purchase, Quidco shares commission with the member in the form of cashback. The cashback is then paid into a member’s ‘cashback account.’

History[edit]

Quidco was founded in 2005 by Paul and Jennifer Nikkel. Paul Nikkel also founded the online money saving community, Hot UK Deals in 2004.

In November 2018, Quidco and main competitor, TopCashback, announced their plans to merge companies. Top Online Partners Group, which owns Topcashback, and Maple Syrup Group agreed to form a new single group, CB Group Holdings.[4]

In March 2019, both companies abandoned the merger, deciding that it would not be in the best interest of either party. Both businesses decided to continue on their separate growth plans.[5]
