QuinPar Intelligence Agency (Q.I.A.) is a fictional intelligence agency appearing in Sign Gene: The First Deaf Superheroes, the world's first film about deaf superpowers with supernatural powers through the use of sign language.[1][2][3]
The organization is affiliated with the Pentagon, is composed of selected agents with Sign Gene mutation and often deals with superhuman threats.[4]
Etymology[edit]
'Quin' comes from the Latin word for 'Five', 'Par' is for 'Parameters'. It refers to the five parameters, the phonological components in sign language linguistics that form signs: handshape, movement, location, orientation, and non-manual signals. [5]
