RadioSpia records

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

RadioSpia records is a small Italian record company active since 2012. It takes its name from an old radio program [1] produced in Foggia, Puglia (Italy) which had the purpose of promoting new musical talents in that area, making them interact with other artists while respecting the contents and a wider music market.

RadioSpia was founded by the sound engineer Marco Maffei and follows an artistic line that aims to internationalize its productions [2]. The current catalog contains seventeen record releases and seven official video clips, mainly distributed on digital music download and streaming platforms (Apple music, Amazon, Spotify, Deezer, Rhapsody, 7 digital, Qobuz, YouTube, etc.).

The musical genres covered range from acoustic pop, electronic, Celtic, new age, pop rock, folk, dark wave, funk rock, comedy rock and patchanka [3], with a common thread that favors artistic quality and uncompromising sound for each release.

Since 2020 RadioSpia also has a sub-label, called Actarus Records [4], mainly for Italian productions.

Other Projects

On April 26, 2017 the label released its tenth release (Giovanni Mastrangelo - Albert Camus) with audio in 7.1. The release was presented by the journalist Damir Ivic.

They also announced on the Facebook page that begun the production of a live show with native surround sound, a project currently still unreleased. Their eleventh production, an E.P. by the handpan player Maurizio Rana, represents a starting attempt to evolve this young instrument, so particular and yet to be explored.

On 7 and 9 May 2019 "Hypnos", the album by Maurizio Rana, was presented to a public audience, with an ensemble of musicians who performed a particular performance in acoustic surround, which fascinated the audience.

In 2020, Actarus Records sub-label was also born, which aims to produce and enhance rap, trap and funky music for the Italian market, far from the clichés of traditional trash-trap. At the moment, it only released a single called "Norm-A: La Strada".

Partecipations and mentions

On 9 June 2017, on the thirtieth anniversary of David Bowie's first Italian concert, the Italian magazine Rumore released a selection of Bowie covers performed by Italian artists, which also featured "The Alpha States & Andrea Chimenti - Ashes to Ashes".[24]
