Radio Duhok (کوردی: ڕادیۆیا دھۆک) is a Kurdish-language radio station based in Duhok, Kurdistan Region. It is considered a significant local media outlet, described as the "authentic voice of Duhok Governorate".[1] The station was one of the first radio broadcasters established in the region after the 1991 spring uprising, beginning its broadcast on October 14, 1992.[2]
History
Affiliated with the Xanî Media and Cultural Center, Radio Duhok was established in Duhok Governorate following the 1991 Iraqi uprisings.[2] Its first broadcast was on October 14, 1992, initially on the AM band. After about a year, the station transitioned to FM to improve broadcast quality.[2]
