Biography
Trajectory and history of Rafa Polinesio on Youtube
He and some colleagues from the University decided to create a YouTube channel in 2010 called Platica Polinesia and the friends, although it did not go very well because in six months they uploaded two videos. In 2011, he created another channel, Platica Polinesia, with his sisters where they made jokes. When he finished his studies in marketing, Rafa Polinesio managed to work as an administrator in a Pizza Hut branch but, due to some conflicts, he left and later worked at Nextel. However, fate had a different destination for him as he left to dedicate himself to YouTube. In 2012, they created three more channels: Extra Polinesios, where they upload challenges and tags; Muses, where they upload Makeup Tutorials, Hairstyles, Cooking, or also crafts, tips and advice, but Rafa has only appeared four times; and Los Polinesios, his daily vlog channel. And in 2013, Juxiis, his channel of favorite video games. And also three other channels that they abandoned due to lack of time.
In 2018, they already had their five channels together, with 55 million subscribers, which earned them five silver buttons and five gold buttons, and very soon the diamond button will arrive. They have been the most successful family on YouTube. Later, Los Polinesios added music to their repertoire with their first song called “Festival”, alongside the exclusive producer RedOne. "It is a different way of connecting with all Polynesians and with other people who are not exactly Polynesians… with all the people who want to see life in a totally different way," said Rafa Polinesio. In July 2019, they re-released a song now called "Thank you" with which they thanked all the love that their fans and followers have given them throughout the years, but this was just one more song of all those they were releasing in the following years.
Later, Rafa Polinesio lent his voice for "Lego Ninjago: The Movie.[1] Rafael Polinesio stated that it was a great experience to have lent his voice to one of the characters from “Lego Ninjago: The Movie”; Regarding his participation in the film, he commented: “I prepared a lot, three months before starting the dubbing process, I prepared myself by taking classes because I thought it was like you stop and speak in front of the microphone and everything will turn out super well, and with the first class I realized that no, and I said God this is quite difficult, it is not how I imagined it, but with that process I learned a lot of things,” said Rafa Polinesio.
In mid-2020, and after years of inviting their followers to dream through their videos, Los Polinesios saw one of their biggest dreams come true when they joined the Barbie brand to launch their own dolls. With this event, the YouTubers became the first digital creators to launch their own Barbie figures, which ensured everyone could fulfill their dreams if they fought to achieve it. "As children, Lesslie and I played a lot with Barbies and it was a way that our imaginations created stories, dreams and goals that we had as children. When a little one takes a doll to play, it gives soul to that toy. We want you to know that what he is imagining and the stories that go through his head can materialize and become reality," said Karen in an interview.
Karen, Lesslie and Rafa’s dolls were so successful with their fans that they had to make a larger print run as they did not expect them to be so well received by all their fans. At the same time, Los Polinesios celebrated that they had reached more than 28 million followers on YouTube; In addition, he was once again nominated for the Kids' Choice Awards Mexico as a favorite YouTuber, sharing the category with other YouTube stars such as Dani Hoyos, Yolo Aventuras, Mis Pastelitos, Danny Alfaro, Missa, La Bala and SKabeche.
After the coronavirus pandemic hit Mexico City, Televisa carried out a special program called "Thank You" with the intention of singing a thank you song for all those people who were fighting the spread of the virus, such as doctors and nurses. As expected in the program, several actors, actresses and television stars were invited, however for the first time they invited famous personalities from the most recognized social networks in Mexico and Latin America, such as Juanpa Zurita, Los Polinesios (Karen, Lesslie and Rafa), Iker Walker, Estefi Merelles and Mau Otero; these last three demonstrating that the famous TikTokers were having great strength and influence in the mainstream media such as broadcast television.
