Rahul Shandilya
Rahul Shandilya is an Indian technology executive and digital transformation leader. He currently serves as the Group Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) at the GMR Group, an infrastructure conglomerate based in New Delhi, India.[1]
Early life and education
Shandilya is reported to hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the Jaipuria Institute of Management. He earned a PhD focusing on Digital Quotient from NIIT University.[2]
Career
Before joining GMR Group, Shandilya held senior technology leadership roles at prominent Indian conglomerates including Welspun Group and Mahindra Group. He served as Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Welspun, where he was responsible for enterprise IT strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.[1]
In 2021, he joined GMR Group as Group Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO), overseeing digital and IT operations across sectors such as airports, energy, and infrastructure. His role focuses on driving digital transformation, operational excellence, and business innovation.[2]
In interviews and industry commentaries, Shandilya has emphasized that digital transformation must move beyond automation to fundamental reengineering of business processes and models.[3]
Recognition
Shandilya is recognized as a thought leader in enterprise IT and digital transformation.
