Rajath Ravishankar (born 28 November 1989) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and lyricist who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. His debut film, *Dev*, starred Karthi, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj, and Ramya Krishnan in lead roles and was released on February 14, 2019.
Early life and education
Rajath was born to Tamil parents settled in Bangalore. Raised in Bangalore until his teenage years, he went on to study mechanical engineering, but his determination to become a filmmaker made him quit his course and study filmmaking from a prestigious film school in Kolkata.
Career
Right after graduating from the film institute in 2009, he went to Mumbai to intern with a few filmmakers, but with his passion for Tamil cinema, he changed his mind and relocated to Chennai in 2011.
In Chennai, he assisted prominent filmmakers Mani Ratnam and R. Kannan.
After working as an associate director for close to 10 years, in 2018 he started his debut film “Dev” starring Karthi, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj, and Ramya Krishnan in lead roles, which was later released on February 14, 2019.
