Rajesh Chandwani is an Indian academic, physician, and documentary film producer. He is a faculty member in the Human Resources Management area at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).[1] He produced God Vulture and Human, which was awarded as the Best Documentary Film at the 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023.[2]
Education and academic career
Chandwani completed his MBBS and MD in Paediatrics at Baroda Medical College.[3] He worked as a paediatrician in the public sector for 13 years.[4] He completed the Fellow Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, specializing in organizational behaviour and human resources management, and joined the IIMA faculty in 2014.[3]
At IIMA, his research interests include healthcare delivery, healthcare information technology, human resource management, and mindfulness.[5]
Filmmaking
In 2021, Chandwani produced 'More Than A Uniform', a documentary about nurses at Cama Hospital during the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The film was developed in connection with an IIMA research project on hospital safety.[6]
He later co-produced God Vulture and Human with Studio Lichi which was directed by Rishiraj Agarwal. The documentary focuses on organ transplant coordinators and organ donation and transplantation in India, and received the Best Documentary Film award at the 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023.[7][2]
