Rajko Mamuzić

Rajko Mamuzić (Serbian Cyrillic: Рајко Мамузић; Kraljevci, then Austria-Hungary, 1915 - Zemun, Serbia, 1994) was a Serbian art collector, patron, who is one of the donors and cultural workers who played a significant role in restoring the cultural life of Novi Sad after the Second World War.

In the first years after his release, Mamuzić was the head of the Novi Sad House of the Yugoslav Army, the second secretary of the Matica Srpska, and then one of the first directors of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments (1951-1953). In this position, he dedicated himself to advocating for the preservation of cultural heritage, especially the monastery churches on Fruška Gora. During the sixth decade, he published texts in the field of monument protection and ethnology in the journals Rad vojvodjanskih muzeja and Zadružni arhiv. He intensified his cooperation with artists from the contemporary Yugoslav scene after moving to Zemun, when he began to regularly visit art studios at the Old Fairgrounds. In addition to the collecting activity that was conceived there, Rajko Mamuzić was also engaged in participating in the realization of exhibitions of artists he knew.

During the seventh decade, he was involved in the work on the constitution of the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad, the current Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina. The crown of his work is the Gallery of Fine Arts, a gift collection of Rajko Mamuzić, which was created from his private collection collected in the period from 1953 to 1974.

He died in 1994 in Zemun.
