Rakefet Abergel
Rakefet Abergel is an American-Israeli filmmaker, actor, writer, producer and acting coach. She has appeared in American film and television and is known for the independent short films Jax in Love, Boo and Still.
Career
Abergel began her screen career as an actor, with appearances in film and television productions including My Name Is Earl, iCarly, Superbad, Drillbit Taylor, My Best Friend's Girl and Just Go with It.[1][2]
Her first produced horror-thriller short as writer was Jax in Love, directed by Colin Campbell and starring Abergel as Jax.[3] The film was reviewed by Critical Popcorn and MyIndie Productions, both of which discussed Abergel's writing and lead performance.[4][5]
Abergel made her film directorial debut with the 2019 horror short Boo, which she wrote, directed, produced and starred in.[6] The film follows Devi, a recovering addict who is forced to confront her addiction after receiving her seven-year recovery chip.[7] According to MovieMaker, Jax in Love earned Abergel ten Best Actress awards on the festival circuit, and Boo won several Best Director awards.[8]
In 2024, Abergel wrote and directed the psychological horror short Still, in which she also starred.[9] The film deals with grief, pregnancy loss and psychological distress.[10]
Abergel is also the founder of Kid (F)Actor, an acting coaching and mentorship business in Los Angeles, which she founded in 2010.[11]
