Rami Rahim
Rami Rahim (age 47, born 1971) is an American businessman and currently Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of California-based network manufacturer Juniper Networks.
Early Life
Rahim was born in Beirut, Lebanon and raised in Toronto, Canada.[1] He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto[2], where he also delivered the commencement speech to the Applied Science and Engineering class of 2016[3]. He holds a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.[4]
Career
After earning his undergraduate degree, Rahim worked for a year at Ontario, Canada-based ATI Technologies, which developed graphics processors.[5] In 1997, after completing his MS at Stanford, he was hired as employee No. 32 at Juniper Networks[6] as a hardware engineer. He was part of the team that built the M40 core router[7] [8] that first shipped in 1998[9] and was the first of its kind capable of scaling to meet Internet demands at the time.[10] Rahim held subsequent engineering and product management roles at Juniper and was part of the team that built the Juniper MX-Series. He also held various leadership roles at Juniper, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of Juniper Development and Innovation responsible for all routing, switching, and security products, EVP and GM of Platform Systems Division, and SVP and GM of the Edge and Aggregation Business Unit.[11]
Rahim became CEO of Juniper Networks in November 2014 after then-CEO Shaygan Kheradpir resigned from Juniper due to a disagreement with the board during a customer negotiation.[12]
Rahim holds 17 patents in networking technologies.[13]
Personal Life
Rahim is married with two children and lives in Menlo Park, CA.
