Ran Xiangzheng
Ran Xiangzheng (Chinese: 冉祥征; pinyin: Rǎn Xiángzhēng; 1880–1929), courtesy name Xinfu (Chinese: 信甫; pinyin: Xìnfǔ), was a Chinese revolutionary and military officer from Jiuxian Street, Jiuxian Town, Song County, Henan Province, China. He was one of the founding members of the Tongmenghui branch in Song County during the late Qing dynasty.
Life
Revolutionary activities
After the establishment of the Tongmenghui, Ran Xiangzheng joined Liu Zhenhua, Shi Yan, and Jiang E in founding the Song County branch of the Tongmenghui, becoming among the earliest members of the organization in the region. They used the establishment of Western-style schools as a cover while conducting revolutionary activities in Song County.[1]
On the eve of the 1911 Revolution, in order to build revolutionary armed forces, Ran Xiangzheng, along with Liu Zhenhua, Shi Yan, and others, made multiple trips to Yang Mountain to establish contact with Wang Tianzhong, a leader of local bandits. They eventually secured his support in preparation for coordinating with the nationwide revolutionary movement.
Xinhai Revolution period
After the outbreak of the Wuchang Uprising in 1911, Ran Xiangzheng, together with Liu Zhenhua, Wang Tianzhong, and others, actively responded to the revolutionary cause. They successively attacked the military offices at Sundian in Song County and Song County seat, and provided military support to revolutionary forces in Luoyang. However, due to the betrayal and exposure of their operational plans, the revolutionary activities ultimately failed. Subsequently, lacking strong backing, Ran and his associates joined Zhang Feng's Qin-Long復漢 Eastern Expedition Army in Shaanxi, becoming a core force within it.[2]
Military career
In 1912, Ran Xiangzheng formally enlisted in the military. He later served as an advisor and chief counselor in Han Yukun's forces.[3]
He died in 1929 at the age of 49.
