Rania Hanna is a Syrian-American author based in Washington, D.C..[1] She is known for writing magical realism and new adult fantasy.

Early life

Hanna was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania[2] to immigrant parents from Syria[3] and Trinidad and Tobago[4]. She is the only child of her family.

Hanna graduated with research honors[5] with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience [6] from Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania[7][8][9]. She is a heritage speaker of Levantine Arabic. Her debut novel The Jinn Daughter has Levantine Arabic words in it[10]

Career

Hanna stated that before writing her first novel, The Jinn Daughter, she wrote a number of manuscripts to practice writing. She has a dozen unpublished fantasy manuscripts written.

The Jinn Daughter will be published on April 2, 2024[11][12][13].

Personal life

Hanna currently resides in Washington, D.C., where she continues to write. She is a PhD student in neuroscience in Virginia[14][15]. She has written neuroscience articles for the general public as part of science advocacy[16] and served as a peer reviewer for a student neuroscience research journal[17]
