Rantidev Sen Gupta
Rantidev Sengupta (born 25 December 1958) is a Bengali editor, journalist and politician
Early life[edit]
Sengupta was born in North Kolkata in 1952. He studied in St Pauls Mission School, Kolkata and Goenka College of Commerce. He passed M.A in Journalism from the Calcutta University. Sen Gupta was involved with politics since student life.[1]
Career[edit]
Sengupta started his journalist career with the Bengali magazine Paribartan, now defunct. He was the editorial assistant of Paribartan. Sengupta became the Chief Reporter of the Bengali daily newspaper Bartaman and editor of Saptahik Bartaman, a weekly magazine. Presently he is a regular columnist of Bartaman.[2] Collection of his political article were published in a book named Paribartaner Swapno O Swapnobhango. Sen Gupta also published a research work on Sister Nivedita's life, Joliche Dhrubatara. He was the General Secretary of Sister Nivedita Mission Trust.[3][1] He is also associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh[4] and became the editor of their magazine Swastika.[5] Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Sen Gupta to contest in 2019 Indian general election from Howrah (Lok Sabha constituency) but lost to All India Trinamool Congress candidate Prasun Banerjee and stood second in position.[6] Currently he is the editor of the Bengali weekly magazine Swastika.
