Ranveer Arora Allahbadia (born 2 June 1993), also known as BeerBiceps, is an Indian YouTuber, podcaster, and entrepreneur. He is best known for his podcast, The Ranveer Show, where he interviews people from various backgrounds.[1] In 2022, he was included in the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list, for his role as co-founder of Monk Entertainment, a talent agency and digital marketing firm.[2]
Early life
Ranveer Arora Allahbadia was born on 2 June 1996 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He attended the Dhirubhai Ambani International School.[3] He graduated with a Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) degree from Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering in 2015.[citation needed]
Career
Allahbadia started his online presence in 2015 with the YouTube channel "BeerBiceps". Initially, the channel's content centred around fitness and cooking, but later broadened to encompass men's fashion and grooming, personal development, and mental health.[4]
In January 2018, Allahbadia and Viraj Sheth co-founded Monk Entertainment, a Mumbai-based talent management and content creation agency.[5][6]
Allahbadia launched The Ranveer Show podcast in 2019, available on his YouTube channel. The podcast featured interviews with various celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, G. D. Bakshi, and S. Jaishankar.[7]
In 2021, Allahbadia partnered with Spotify, becoming the first independent creator in India to distribute his podcasts on the platform. The Ranveer Show subsequently became a highly streamed podcast in India on Spotify.[8]
In September 2024, Allahbadia's YouTube channel was temporarily compromised. The channel's name was changed, and existing content was replaced with unrelated live streams. The channel was restored to its original state the following day.[9][10]
Controversies
Guest Selection and Misinformation Concerns
Allahbadia has faced criticism for featuring guests who discuss controversial or pseudoscientific topics. Critics argue that such content may contribute to the spread of misinformation, though Allahbadia has stated that the podcast is intended for open discussions with diverse viewpoints.[11][12]
India's got latent controversy
In 2024, Allahbadia appeared as a guest judge on a bonus episode of India’s Got Latent, a talent show. During the episode, a question he posed to a participant was deemed inappropriate, leading to public backlash.[13] Following complaints, the Mumbai Police launched an inquiry, and legal action was initiated against multiple individuals involved in the episode.[14] The show was later removed from streaming platforms.
A police complaint was filed against Allahbadia for "promoting obscenity" and using offensive language. The complaint was submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the National Commission for Women (NCW), following which the Mumbai Police initiated an inquiry and registered an FIR against Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija and Samay Raina .[15][16]
The controversy led to the show being shut down with all episodes being removed from streaming.[17] It also created discussions by politicians and the media regarding censorship of the internet to control obscene and inappropriate content.[18]
