RapidAPI is a company developing a public API Hub, a product assisting developers in finding and connecting to public APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). The company also publishes several programs helping developers create and test APIs.

The company was founded in 2015 in Tel Aviv by 17-year-old Iddo Gino and Mickey Haslavsky (who quit the company in 2018)[1]. RapidAPI raised funds from multiple investors, including Dov Moran (inventor of the USB Memory Stick), Marius Nacht (co-founder of Check Point) and the VC firm Andreessen Horowitz - amongst others. The company is currently headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Tel Aviv, Tallinn and Berlin.

On May 2017, the company acquired an API marketplace operated by Kong - which was its main competitor[2]. By doing so, the company expanded its user base to over 370,000 developers.

Fundraising

In November 2016, the company raised $3.5 Million in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz[3]. The round was led by partner Martin Casado and joined by venture capital firms FundersClub, SVAngel and Green Bay Capital.

In March 2018, the company raised an additional $9M in a Series-A led by Andreessen Horowitz.[4]

In June 2019, the company raised $25M, led by M12 - Microsoft's Venture Fund. RapidAPI also launched RapidAPI for Teams in 2019 - allowing organizations to create private workspaces to manage their internal APIs.[5]

In April 2021, RapidAPI raised $60M.[6]

In March 2022, RapidAPI raised $150M with a $1B valuation in a round led by Softbank, thus becoming a unicorn.[7] [[Category:Companies based in Tel Aviv]] [[Category:Software companies of Israel]]
