Rasool Shahsevani (born 29 March 1988) is an inventor and researcher in Robotics and Mechatronics. He has been affiliated with the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), where his research focuses on human–robot cooperation, Artificial intelligence and robotic gripper systems.He has received national and international awards including the JSPS Research Fellowship, gold medals at international invention exhibitions and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Award (DAAD-Preis 2022) at the FAU in recognition of his academic achievements and intercultural and community engagement.[1] [2]
Life and education
Rasool Shahsevani has pursued doctoral research in robotics and mechatronics at the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). He holds bachelor's degrees in Mechanical engineering and Computer engineering with a special focus on software and Artificial intelligence, as well as a Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering with a focus on Mechatronics, manufacturing, and production systems from Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran.[3][4] His academic progress and achievements have been covered by multiple independent news organizations, including national media reports..[5][6]
Awards and recognition
Rasool Shahsevani has received the DAAD-Award 2022 (Hans-Wilhelm und Helga Schüssler Stiftung und DAAD-Preis) at FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg in recognition of his academic performance and intercultural engagement.[7] He has contributed as a technical committee member and reviewer for IEEE.[8][9] His inventions related to robotic gripper systems were filed in the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and published in 2022.[10][11] He was also awarded the DAAD scholarship and the JSPS Research Fellowship 2021 by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for research in robotics and artificial intelligence.[12] During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he was recognized for his inventions and research achievements, receiving gold medals at international invention exhibitions such as Archimedes and iENA in Germany.[13] His national honors include the first place in the National Festival of Young Inventors in Engineering, and the “Outstanding Youth of Iran” award presented to him at the National Festival of Distinguished Youth by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (Iran).[14][15] His work has also been the subject of additional independent news coverage. Community and memberships
Rasool Shahsevani has participated in intercultural and social initiatives, including volunteer work with EFIE e.V. (Ehrenamtliche Flüchtlingsbetreuung) to help improve living conditions for immigrants, and serving as a member of the Ausländer- und Integrationsbeirat (AIB), the Foreigners’ and Integration Council of the City of Erlangen.[20][21] He served as a board member of the UNESCO Innovation and Technology Club, which evaluates inventions, startups, and knowledge-based enterprises.[22]
