Rathmichael Parish National School is situated in Shankill, South County Dublin. History

On Monday, December 12, 1864, the newly-built church of Rathmichael was consecrated by the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Reverend Richard Chenevix Trench. The Archbishop was accompanied by his chaplain, Reverend Arthur Dawson, vicar of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Clyde Road, Dublin. Other clergy present included Reverend J.G. Scott of Bray, Reverend L.H. Strean of Delgany, Reverend J.W. Gregg of Greystones, and Reverend T.W. Hackett of St. James’s, Bray (Crinken). Reverend John Hunt, the incumbent of Rathmichael since 1825, was unable to attend due to illness and was represented by his two sons. Notable laity in attendance included Sir Charles Compton William Domvile, whose estate the church was built on.[5]

Sport

The schools sport facilities consists of 1 hockey pitch, 1 football field and one playground. The sports that students can participate in are Hockey, Football, Basketball and Olympic handball.

Every year the school participates in Active week in which the students engage in sport activities.[6]
