Ravi Prakash is an Indian Broadcaster who established the tradition of independent, aggressive & campaign Journalism for social change. Prakash is a rare combination of chemistry, literature, journalism and business management. Started journalism with Hindi print media in 1991 and entered television journalism with Doordarshan.

Worked as South Head for Zee TV and as News Director with SUN Network.

He pioneered video broadcast over the internet much before YouTube in 1994. He successfully established ABCL with the brand name TV9 and also established Simba TV network in Africa and Europe. A journalist par excellence, alumni Harvard Business School and standing 6 feet tall, he is larger than life figure who is a pioneer in his field.

Ravi Prakash studied M.A. in literature and Masters in journalism, was a student leader voicing the rights of the underprivileged.

He fought against the economic and social disparity and for bringing a pro-people transformation in Indian politics.

After a stint in print media viz. Mitra Prakashan, Allahabad, started his visual journalistic career in Delhi working with Doordarshan, ZeeTV and he is one of the founders of Siti Cable.

In the South, he shaped news for Sun Network. In the year 2003, he founded Associated Broadcasting Company under which TV9 news channels were established in Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi & English languages across India.

He ran a campaign for fluoride victims of Nalgonda district in Telangana which helped to achieve zero fluoroses in the areas chosen. Controversies[edit]

The takeover of AB Corporation Ltd.: In 2019, Alanda Media Private Limited, a consortium of businessmen including Jupally Rameshwar Rao, owner of the real estate company My Home Group and PV Krishna Reddy, Managing Director of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) acquired 90.5% stake in the company while its long-term investor Srini Raju exited[3]

Ravi Prakash, who has been the CEO of the news channel since its foundation 16 years ago was then removed by the new owners.

Alanda Media in April this year has also filed two other cases against Ravi Prakash including one signature forgery case[4]. He had taken conditional bails[5] in these cases. Prakash had earlier told several media houses that the owners of Alanda media, being close to the Chief Minister of Telangana State K Chandrashekar Rao, had plotted to strip him of his editorial and operational independence and he will continue his fight[6] for media freedom.
