Ravinder dutt
Ravinder Dutt (b. 1st November 1971) is a multidisciplinary, self-taught artist from Delhi. His art is influenced by his love for the Mughal Miniature paintings, monuments and the city of Delhi with a flavour of myth, fiction and fantasy.
Early Life
Ravinder Dutt was born in the city of Delhi. His family hails from the cities of Sialkot, Lahore, and Srinagar which settled down in Delhi after the partition of India in 1947. As a child he grew up surrounded by family heirlooms from Lahore and stories of partition. Though he always wanted to become an artist, he was forced not to do so by his family. But his love for history made him take up History (Hons.) in SGTB Khalsa college, Delhi University and graduated in 1992.
Career
He started his career in the apparel business as a merchandiser for an export house, which gave him knowledge about textiles and techniques of weaving and printing. But he finally gave up his management career after two decades to pursue his passion for art. He showed his artwork for the first time at India International Art Fair 2010 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, and did a solo show at Azad Bhavan Gallery, at the Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR), New Delhi titled Reincarnation, DNA, Mughal Treasure and 300 years of my life. Thereafter he won the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) award in 2014 for his work titled Birdcage.
