Raymond Richard Neutra
- @Legacypac: Thank you for the help and feedback. I removed the spouse and children info from the box, and added a reference to the award in the introduction. I also added to the introduction a statement about Raymond's work on his father's legacy, which is one of the claims establishing his notability.Jsbmhca 717 (talk) 12:08, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Raymond Richard Neutra (/ˈnɔɪtrə/), born in 1939, is a physicial and environmental epidemiologist. He is the son of modern architect Richard Neutra, whose works are the focus of Raymond's present preservation efforts..[1]
In 1990, Raymond was the founding president of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, which later awarded him with the Goldsmith Career Award.[2]
Biography[edit]
Raymond was born in Los Angeles California, growing up in the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences, which is now a Natural Historic Monument.[3][4] This is the live-work space that his father designed in stages in 1932 and 1940; in 1966 he designed an additional wing with his son, Dion, after a fire destroyed all but the garden and basement.[5] [6]
Career[edit]
Raymond was influenced by his father’s concern with physiology and design, pursuing a research career in environmental medicine and epidemiology.[7]
After doing medical anthropological research and medical practice on the Navajo Reservation[8], Raymond taught at Harvard, where he researched decision analysis[9] and evidence-based medicine[10][11]. From 1980 to 2007, he served in leadership positions in environmental and occupational epidemiology at the California Department of Public Health[12]
Preservation Efforts[edit]
Raymond assisted his father with his publications[13] and wrote jointly with him during his lifetime.[14] Raymond wrote a physician’s introduction to the second edition of “Survival Through Design,”[15] and provided the necessary documentation to justify the National Historic Landmark status for the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences.[16] In cooperation with Friends of Neutra VDL and Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design, he has contributed to the landmark’s restoration[17][18].
In cooperation with historian Eileen Wallace, Raymond has been building a website on the social history of the site.[19] This project has led to a number of publications about his father’s collaborators and clients[20][21][22], including a recent Kindle book about the forty-year relationship between Raymond’s parents and Frank Lloyd Wright[23]. These publications have been the basis for several lectures on evidence-based design[24][25], some of which are available on YouTube[26][27]
Raymond serves as an advisor to the Iconic House network[28]
