Reality Sandwich

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Reality Sandwich is a web magazine published by Evolver Holdings, Corp., a privately held company. It is based in New York City. The site's intent, as its tag line expresses, is "evolving consciousness, bite by bite." Subjects run the gamut from sustainability to shamanism, alternate realities to alternative energy, remixing media to re-imagining community, holistic healing techniques to the promise and perils of new technologies. It offers a forum for voices ranging from the ecologically pragmatic to the wildly visionary. Content includes essays, short news stories, video clips, and audio podcasts. Over 5,000 articles have been published on the site since its launch in May, 2007. Ken Jordan serves as Publisher and Editorial Director. The magazine was co-founded by Jordan with author Daniel Pinchbeck artist/designer Michael Robinson, and writer/activist Jonathan Philips. Contributors include Douglas Rushkoff, DJ Spooky, Erik Davis, Alex Grey, Stanislav Grof, RU Sirius, Sharon Gannon, Tom Bradley, Charles Eisenstein and The Yes Men.

The name "Reality Sandwich" is borrowed from a work by the Beat poet Allen Ginsberg as "a prime example of his use of startling verbal juxtapositions to suggest new ideas and connections." The name has been used with the blessing of the Allen Ginsberg Trust.

Reality Sandwich 2.0[edit]

In November 2013 the website was relaunched in a redesigned form following a crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign.[1] Following the redesign, the website opened up the possibility for the community to contribute content and thereby provide a continual stream of third party information, with the premise that highly popular community posts would be moved into the curated areas of the site after garnering enough interest. As of December 2014, the website has published over 230,000 articles and the number continues to grow at a very fast pace.[2]
