Rebecca Sananés is an American producer, journalist and media personality. She was the co-creator and executive producer of Archetypes,[1] alongside Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and the lead producer on Pivot, hosted by Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway.[2]
Career[edit]
Sananés attended the University of Vermont and received her M.S. in Journalism from Boston University. She first decided to become a journalist after she made a short documentary during her time volunteering at a reforestation and health clinic non-profit in Borneo, Indonesia.[1]
She has worked across public radio stations, including WBUR Boston[3] and Vermont Public Radio.[4] Her work has been featured across national NPR programming including on Morning Edition, All Things Considered and The World.[2]
After graduate school, she reported on the ground in Cuba about HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQIA+ community through a grant from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis reporting. The work was presented at the XXI International AIDS Conference, 2016, and was published in the book To End AIDS.[5]
Rebecca moved into the commercial podcasting space after 2016, starting as the inaugural in-house producer at The Skimm before moving on to Vox Media.[6] At Vox Media and New York, she produced the podcast Land of the Giants and developed and lead-produced the podcast Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway.[7]
In 2021, she was recruited to be the first Head of Audio at Archewell, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's media company.[8] There she co-created and executive-produced the podcast Archetypes, which became the number one podcast on Spotify for a number of weeks.[9]
Sananés is currently a consultant, developing her own slate of podcasts and occasional commentator at Vanity Fair.[10]
