Red Guaraní, also called Canal 2 is an open television channel from Paraguay that broadcasts on channel 2 for Asunción and Gran Asunción. And it is affiliated with Televisa from Mexico.

History[edit]

In 1997, the Manzoni family created Canal 2 Tevedós de Asunción with a basic program until 1998.

In 2002 the name is changed to Red Guaraní and emerged as an initiative of Dany Espínola Durand (current deputy for Asunción) and Ulises Aristides (CEO of Bakus Internacioanal Inc.) to reposition the channel using local production with more than 18 hours of exclusive programming Produced in their studies located in the Textilia Complex.

In 2003, the owners accepted the economic proposal of the religious group Obedira Comunicación Integral, headed by Arnoldo Wiens Durksen, who takes the operation after several years of being created the Guaraní Network. The channel changes its slogan from The People Channel to The Family Channel and featured a healthy programming based on the Catholic Faith.

In 2014, the channel changes administration, corporate image and currently has a grid that offers a more varied programming, including news, magazines, journalists, sports and more.

Relay stations[edit]

The Channel 2 abit signal reaches the entire republic through several strategically placed retransmitters in each city. By official disposition, the virtual channel assigned to Red Guaraní is the 2.1 in the whole Paraguayan republic, with the exception of ZP6SIM-DTT in the southern border with Argentina, which has assigned the channel 40.1 provisionally as the 2.1.
